Birth Story by Ally, Hypnobirthing Mum, and photography by Raising Flowers Photography
“We did it! Everything we’d practiced, visualised and prepared for. This birth was so beautiful and healing for me as a Mother and the amount of growth that has come from this as a couple and family was so much more than I could have ever hoped for.”
I just want to thank you again from the bottom of my heart. You helped us create the birth of our dreams and we will be forever grateful to you for this. It’s something that we will always cherish!
We put so much work into preparing for not only the actual birth, but everything leading up to it also. Every question asked, decision & choice made was done so with the confidence that we were educated and knew what we wanted and what we didn’t.
So here it is, our birth story xx.
I went into early labour at about 11pm on the Tuesday night.
I hadn’t been able to sleep at all that night, I just felt so off and uncomfortable, now I know why.
My surges started out mild and I decided to watch a movie while Jake got a bit more sleep.
About an hour and a half later things started to get a little more intense and I had an urge to just get in the shower, so that’s what I did.
As the warm water poured over my back as relief, I felt my surges getting stronger and closer together.
Jake made the calls he needed to get everything else in place and when he felt it was time, came and told me we were going to head into the hospital. My surges were about 3minutes apart by the time we arrived at the hospital at 2:30am.
I was settled into the birthing suite by 3am.
With every surge I relaxed my body and rode the wave up and down, with Jake guiding me and reminding me to just “let go”. I immediately got into the shower while Jake prepared the room with our scent diffusing, the lights dimmed and some calming music on.
He sat with me in the shower and helped me through every surge. I then decided it was time to get into the bath, I knew she was close.
The weightlessness of the water was so soothing and things quickly progressed.
The surges were so intense. I zoned out to everything else around me and let them come. The only person I could hear was Jake, when things felt too much and I started to lose myself he brought me back, every time. Helping me bring my breath back and reminding me that I am strong.
We finally got to a point where I felt I could no longer do things on my own, I was exhausted and just wanted everything to stop. I told Jake I wanted pain relief, some gas.
Well, we now know that this was the turning moment, I was transitioning.
I didn’t even get a chance to have the gas before I felt my baby move down and an overwhelming sense to PUSH!
I braced myself and bore down, hard. I heard myself, Roar. The sounds coming out of me we’re involuntary by this point and completely out of my control.
I reached down and could feel her coming. Her membranes came first and still intact. As I bore down again they ruptured and I felt a perfect little head, and lots of hair.
At this point I needed to rest. I laid back on Jake and rested my whole body and mind just waiting for the next surge.
With the next surge and everything I had left in me, I bore down deep and felt my little girl wriggle out the rest of her body.
At 5:04am everything stopped.
I felt myself come back from the place I needed to go to get through, I felt her warm skin on mine and instantly everything else melted away like magic.
We did it! Everything we’d practiced, visualised and prepared for.
This birth was so beautiful and healing for me as a Mother and the amount of growth that has come from this as a couple and family was so much more than I could have ever hoped for.
“We attended Kate’s Hypnobirthing course in October. We are having our second baby and wanted this birth to be a little more in our control, so we decided to educate ourselves.
The course was so informative and I finally have let go of all the fear around birth from my first experience. Kate did an AMAZING job at getting all the information to us in a relaxing and inviting way.
I’m now ready and excited for this birth and I really do owe a lot of that to Kate.
Thank you so much, we are ready for our positive birthing experience ❤️❤️❤️ “
